Miami Beach Mayor proclaims Merle Liivand Day for swim and cleanups
Merle Liivand broke the world speed and distance record for the monofin in Miami Beach, Florida. With a passion for having a clean outdoors, she has been cleaning up South Florida waterways every day to bring awareness of discarded trash. Merle is a Baltic States Champion in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke and grew up in Estonia.
Merle is also an ambassador for World CleanUp Day that is held annually in September in every country.
