Mayor's and City Leaders Around the World Participate in Earth Month Cleanups
Millions of people around the world participated in cleanups with their Mayor’s or City Leaders.
Baltimore, MD Mayor Brandon Scott was one of those leaders taking personal actions to support the community. Like many others, this was a city wide effort engaging communities of all backgrounds.
Scott kicked the day off the 2022 Spring clean up with a welcome in front of Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School.
"This is a great day. We know we need to clean up in our neighborhoods. We need to keep our City clean and this is just one of the amazing activities that we're going to be doing to keep our City clean," Scott David, Director of the Mayor's Office of Neighborhoods, said.
The Mayor said not only is a clean up scheduled for McElderry Park, but all across the City
The Mayor acknowledged elected officials in attendance and thanked them for their constant support in beautifying the City.
"I really want to give a special shoutout to Jason [DPW director] and all the women and men in DPW for the work they do each and every day, each and every night to keep Baltimore clean," Scott said. "And we know, over the past few years while many of us have been working from home, working from other parts of the world, they've been working in our streets. They've been working double and triple time because the rest of us are home."
Scott urged residents to continue cleaning up their own neighborhoods and said while this is the first big clean up, consistent clean-ups thought the City will be scheduled.
