Students turn “trash into treasure” at Florida Aquarium
The Florida Aquarium is opening a temporary exhibit to showcase students’ art made from trash found at local beaches.
The art displayed at the exhibit comes from several beach clean-up operations hosted by the aquarium in January. This includes Dive 55, a day-long marine debris removal project and beach clean-up on Anna Maria Island that was a part of Super Bowl LV’s environmental efforts. There, more than 1 ton of debris was collected.
The exhibit will last through International Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 18 and will hold 24 art pieces made by students from 14 Hillsborough County Public Schools.
